This contrastive analysis enables the readers to be acquainted with the main differences and similarities of the gerundial subordinate clauses between English and their correspondents in Albanian regarding their structures and nominal functions. By studying the main differences and similarities in two languages, it is supposed that many of the mistakes and errors that are done while using this type of non-finite clause might be avoided considerably. Therefore, the major aim of this study is to see the differences and similarities between the nominal functions of gerundial subordinate clauses in English and Albanian languages.
The analysis is done from three English novels and their translated versions in Albanian. These literary works play an important role in consolidating and revealing the similarities and differences between English gerundial subordinate clauses and their translated equivalents in Albanian. This contrastive analysis has proven that the number of differences over rules the number of similarities.
