The paper makes an insight into the issue of correct interpreting of personal names as a category of proper names to achieve communication in translation of news mass media texts. The analysis is based on the research into the phenomenon of news media texts in Russian and international translation and communication theory and practice. The leading approaches used by the authors are literature analysis, observation and classification of the research material. The authors conclude that the correct interpretation of personal names is crucial for achieving communication in translation of news mass media texts to provide for better understanding between communication agents.
